Hello everyone and welcome to Cafe Crochet! Make yourself a nice cup of coffee (or tea, or hot chocolate if you prefer) pull up a chair and stay awhile! I can't wait to meet all of you!
I've decided to go ahead and jump onboard this blogosphere to share my addiction for all things Crochet! I first learned the "granny square" way back in my pre-teen years, but for some reason or other I dropped the art and didn't pick it up again until a couple of years ago when I was pregnant with my second child. I had just quit my job and moved from Oklahoma to Illinois... I didn't know anybody and was really bored! So, I decided to try my hand at crochet again... I started out with the same very basic granny square that I had learned years ago... Once I got the hang of it again, you couldn't stop me! I started crocheting baby blankets... and more baby blankets! Until I realized I had more baby blankets than I could ever use! So, I started giving them as gifts to my friends that were having babies... Then one day I decided that I wanted to learn other techniques and stitches... I wanted to make more than just baby blankets! So, I went to the library and started borrowing books on crochet... Wow! I couldn't believe what I was missing! There were sooo many awesome projects that I HAD to make! So, slowly but surely I taught myself how to read the patterns and I have been making everything from Cloche hats and handbags, to Barbie accessories and toys! This is where I plan to share my creations with you! I will also be reviewing some of what I consider to be the BEST crochet books out there! I may even add some patterns if I can figure out how to write my own...
To start my blog off, I just have to share this cute little Amigurumi with you! I don't know if anyone else out there finds these little Japanese characters as adorable as I do, but I thought I'd share a pattern with you! I received this free pattern from Lion Brand yarn in my e-mail the other day! I'm definitely going to have to make this for my daughter! You can view the pattern by clicking HERE!
